What could be wrong if my unit is freezing up? |
* Usually, there are several items that may cause your system to freeze up. The most common problem is a dirty filter. Check your filter to make sure the air can pass across it without restricting it to much. Dirty filters not only cause the unit to freeze up, but also can cause premature failure of your outdoor compressor.
* Another problem that may cause your unit to freeze up would be the lack of airflow across the indoor coil. This could be a dirty filter, a piece of furniture recently moved in front of a return air grille, or the indoor blower motor not working. If either of the first two items mentioned are not the problem, you will need to call for service.

What could be wrong if my unit won’t come on at all? |
* Check your thermostat and verify that it is set to either HEAT or COOL and that the temperature setting is properly set.
* Another problem may be that your breaker is tripped. Check your circuit breaker at the panel box and verify that the breaker is not tripped. Even if it looks to be on, turn it off and then back on.
* If your thermostat uses batteries, they may be bad. Check the batteries and replace if necessary.

What could be wrong if my unit is running but not cooling? |
* Check your filter. A dirty filter can cause the unit to run longer and not cool as well as if it were clean. Replace filter if necessary.
* Check that the outdoor unit coil is not stopped up. Bushes, grass, or the inevitable cottonwood can stop up the outdoor coil, causing it not to perform as well, and also costing you more to operate.
* If either of the two items above didn’t solve your problem, you will need to call for service.

What could be wrong if my indoor unit runs, but my outdoor unit won’t come on? |
* Check your thermostat to verify that the fan switch is set to AUTO. If the switch is set to ON, the indoor blower will run continuously.
* Check the circuit breaker to the outdoor unit. It may be tripped. Turn the breaker off, then back on.
* If either of the two items above didn’t solve your problem, you will need to call for service.
